Take a look at what we have been up to. 

- We have been performing our songs in music class with Ms. Murphy - Brooklynn

- We have been learning about the differences between 2-D shapes and 3-D objects - Shakirah

- We have been learning about the residential school victims and survivors - Yazen

- We have been learning new games from our classmates in PE - Lulia

- We learning lots in math - Emily

- We have learned a new game called sevens in music - Shadi

- We have been learning about the Grandfathers 7 Sacred Teachings - Anais

- Ms. Cooper created a word search for us with all of our classmates names - Olga

- We have been writing about "Would you rather" - I would rather have a bath in ice cubes instead of tomato soup:) - Abulhak

- We are looking forward to the virtual Grade 5 farewell assembly today - Shivya

- We met our new principal yesterday - Ria

- We finished our science project on animals and the country they live in - Adalynn

- We are watching Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on Tuesday - Adam

- We go outside for writing on Fridays - Saja

- In math we learned the difference between polygons and non-polygons - Sedra

- We are creating 3-D shapes in math - Dunia

Dear grade 3 families:

Summer is almost here. Take a look at what we have been up to.

 - We have been learning about polygons in math - Lulia

- We have been sharing jokes with Ms. Bjornson's class on Fridays - Dunia

- We have been learning about a 4-object meditation; ask me about it - Yazen

- We made hearts to honor and remember the 215 Residential School victims in Kamloops - Olga

- We read the book "The Word Collector" and wrote our own ending - Adalynn

- We tied orange ribbons to our fence outside the school, to honor the memories of the 215 Residential School victims in Kamloops and had 215 seconds of silence - Anais

- We have been playing lots of active and new games in PE - Anais

- We are earning marbles for the opportunity to watch the movie of a book we read in class - Saja

- Today we took our learning outside - Brooklynn

- We were able to get out Frisbee golfing 3/5 possible days, the weather (wind/rain) made for us to miss a couple days - Ms. C

- We have been learning about mother earth - Jayda

- We have been playing cooperative games in Phys. Ed. - Ria 

- We have been drawing animals for our title page as we begin our new concept based project - Shivya

- We wet felted a birds nest and eggs - Olga

- We created Pysanky - Ukrainian Easter eggs - Mason

- We go outside for P.E. when the weather nice - Emily

- We designed, created and built bridges - Kaleb

- We are learning about division in math - Anais

- We created a James Rizzi city scape in art - Brooklynn

- We go outside for writing when it's nice out, and we have gotten a couple of free write days - Dunia

- We created a robot to measure perimeter in math - Lulia

- We finished How to Eat Fried Worms in our small reading group - Adam

- In music we're learning how to do the cup song at the same time/speed - Sedra

- We are making feathers for a wing in Ms. Murphy's class - Abdulhak

- In guided reading my favourite is read to partner - Raghd

- Our student teacher Ms. Bello finished her practicum and is now a teacher <3 - Sedra

April showers bring May flowers

 Take a look at what we have been up to:

- We are building bridges in science - Yazen

- We are working on our James Rizzi Art - Ria

- We continue to learn new cooperative games in gym - Milad

- We have been learning about bridges and structures in sciences - Raghd

- We are earning marbles for our choice of an extra recess. - Sedra

- We are learning about what a proper, socially distanced line up looks like - Shivya

- We are borrowing items from mother nature - ask me about this - Shakirah

- In Math we learned what the perimeter of something means - ask me to sing you our song - Olga

- In music we are learning the cup song - Dunia

- We are using pine cones and rocks to help us calm down when we are stressed out - Shadi

- We made Pysanky's in writing this week - Abdulhak

- We had centers in PE, including the big skipping rope - Jayda

- We have been practicing the land acknowledgement - Anais

- Since the weather has been so nice we go outside for PE - Mason

- We are learning to do the cup song in unison - Adam

- We are making Pysanky's during soft entry - Lulia

- Skipping in PE was a lot of fun - Emily

- We go outside to play at lunch recess - Adalynn


We are having an in-school field trip on Monday April 12th. We will be wet felting a birds nest to finish our building unit.

We have enjoyed our time with our Student Teacher Ms. Bello. Next Friday April 16th will be her last day, but we hope that she will come back and substitute teach for us. 

Don't forget to dress for the weather. We have had a few students who have been chilly at recess because they haven't brought jackets.

A friendly reminder to please be safe and use the crosswalks. Crosswalks are supervised in the mornings from 8:00am - 8:15am and after school from 3:01pm - 3:15pm. We want our kids to be safe.

- This week we played Octopus tag in phys. ed. - Olga

- We have been learning about strong structures in science - Anais

- We are earning marbles for lining up with proper safety protocol (i.e. social distancing, mask wearing) - Brooklynn

- We learned the game bandaid tag in phys. ed. - Adalynn

- We are learning about measurement and estimation in math - Milad

- We earned 15 (+) minutes of choice time when we got to our marble goal - Kaleb

- We honoured pink shirt day on Friday and every day by making no bullying slogans on flags which are posted on the bulletin board by the gym - Abdulhak & Yazen

- In art we learned about James Rizzi and are creating buildings with faces on them - Sedra & Adam

- We signed a contract in science - ask me what the contract is about - Saja

- Ask me about the toothpaste activity and what it means - Dunia (See pictures below for clues)

- We are building a compliment/friendship chain - Jayda

- We learning about character traits by acting them out - Shivya

We welcomed Ms. Bello into our classroom this week, she is a student teacher from Mount Royal in her final practicum - Sedra

We are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for our read aloud - Abdulhak

We learned that there are 5 criteria to classify a mineral, ask me what they are - Shadi

In science we are learning about the hardness test for rocks - Anais

Ms. Bello taught us how to play 3 new games in gym - Sedra

We are writing about all that we know about rocks and minerals - Saja

It has been a great start to the new year!

- We are in our last chapter of  A Boy Called Bat - Anais

- We have been creating a lap book about rocks and minerals in science - Sedra

- We practice reading using Epic - Brooklynn

- We started multiplication in math - Milad

- Our new read-aloud book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Zaiden

- In guided reading we read to partner, read to self, listen to reading, play boggle for word work and make a story for work on writing from a picture prompt - Raghd and Sedra

- We created a Zentangle with Ms. Murphy - Raghd

- We are starting an in class art project, creating hot chocolate - Shivya

- We use Kanapy from the Calgary Public Library to listen to reading, it is free with your library card

- We welcomed two new friends to our classroom this week - Emily

- I have challenged Room 5 to a proper plank for 30 seconds by the end of February - Ms. C

- We have been playing octopus tag in gym - Yazen

- The students have been coming back to the classroom from gym, rosy cheeked, sweating and thirsty from all their hard work - Ms. C

- We are welcoming Ms. Bello to our classroom on Monday - She is a student teacher in her 4th year education student at Mount Royal University - Ms. C
